Jess Hallam | Team Leader - Library Services & Programmes Library Services and Programmes | Far North District Council

Jess has worked in the public libraries sector for 7 years, she started her career with Auckland Libraries and later moved to Far North District Libraries in 2021 to take up the position of Digital Services and Programmes Specialist as an NZLPP secondment. She now works as the Team Leader Library Services and Programmes at FNDC Libraries working with a team of specialists to deliver unique and innovative services to the people of the Far North.

Notable achievements include establishing the Toibox Collection — a borrowable collection of digital and STEAM resources and contributing to the design and implementation of the makerspace at Procter Library.

Her expertise extends beyond the local realm, evidenced by her presentation at the LIANZA conference and contributions to PLNZ working groups.

Jess is attending the PLNZ National forum via a regional scholarship sponsored by The National library of New Zealand.

Kia ora

My name is Sam and I have the wonderful opportunity to be the recipient of the Peter Pal sponsorship to attend the PLNZ forum. My library career is just at its beginning though it has been filled with incredible opportunities already.

In my current role which I started in October 2023, I am Hauraki District Libraries’ first cadet. This includes studying a Diploma in Library and Information Studies, as well as working on the frontline in the libraries and leading various projects, all under the watchful eye of more senior staff.

Before the Cadetship role I was employed as a part-time Casual, and before that I was a volunteer who came in twice a week to put the children’s books away.

Sam is attending the PLNZ National forum via a regional scholarship sponsored by Peter Pal.
